My friend and I just came back from an unforgettable Isle of Skye 3-day tour with Tartan Viking Tours, and I honestly can’t say enough good things about it. Our guide, Ross, was absolutely phenomenal! His knowledge of Scottish history, culture, and folklore was so impressive and he has this amazing ability to weave together facts and stories in a way that makes the scenery and landmarks come alive. What really stood out to us was how thoughtful and well-paced the tour was. Despite only having 3 days (although we wish we could’ve had many more!), every stop was meaningful, and Ross always gave us enough time to take it all in. He was so great to check in with us throughout each day to ensure that everything was meeting our expectations. His sense of humour, attention to detail, and ability to read us made everything feel so relaxed, personal and interesting. The route he planned out was perfect, hitting all the iconic sights of Skye while also introducing us to some of the lesser-known gems (which honestly ended up being our favourites!). Ross even curated a perfect playlist to match the changing moods of the scenery or the stories he was telling. This tour far exceeded all of my expectations, and it was so clear that Ross genuinely loves what he does and is just phenomenal at it. I would recommend Tartan Viking Tours (and especially Ross) in a heartbeat to anyone looking to experience the magic of the Highlands!

I did a 5-day Highlands tour with Ross and had the most incredible time. We hit all the main points that were on my list plus many more places that were off the beaten path. I loved learning more about Scotland's history while also hearing stories that had been passed down to Ross. By the end of the 5 days it felt like we were old traveling partners rather than just new friends. I would definitely plan another trip with Tartan Viking.

During our recent private tour from Edinburgh to the Isle of Skye, we were treated, not like customers, but rather like family. Like so many others who book with Tartan Viking tours, we had originally hoped for Eric to be our guide. But as it turned out, the fates matched us with Arron, and we couldn’t have been in better hands. Arron proved to be extremely knowledgeable and demonstrated a great sense of humour. Right from our initial meeting, he put us at ease and was very accommodating when it came to making changes to the itinerary. Not only did he manage to incorporate all the changes that we requested, but he also shared some of his own favourite sites, including several locks, bridges and other structures built by Thomas Telford. That gesture really meant the world to us. Additionally, any time we made a stop, he went above and beyond the call, by looking ahead for possible places to eat that wouldn’t conflict with severe shellfish allergies, (believe me, that’s no easy task). Regardless of where we were, be it Glencoe, driving through the highlands, or navigating around the Isle of Skye, Arron demonstrated an uncanny knack for playing just the right music to dramatically enhance the experience. He also kindly introduced us to some awesome Gaelic & Scottish music. Throughout the tour, we learned so much history, even when we were just driving along. He regularly pointed out different monuments and the history connected to them. Arron even tried his best to teach us some Gaelic words / phrases. Thank goodness he forgot about the test at the end of the tour. Throughout it all, we laughed frequently, we traded stories from life in the military, to various places in Canada that we’d all been to, as well as comparing bad drivers in both countries. We even ended up with some inside jokes about “the Ham Guy”, vitamin D, zombie sheep, and personal support animals, (his is a duck). And it didn’t seem to matter where we stopped, Arron was constantly running into people he knew. Those personal interactions added to an already great experience for us. We may have started out on our tour as strangers, but by the end, Arron felt more like a long-lost cousin. As I stated, the fates couldn’t have matched us with a better guide. One whom I am proud to call a friend. And because of this amazing experience, we wouldn’t hesitate to book with Tartan Viking Tours in future. I would even go so far as to specifically request Arron if he’s available.

Our group of friends had the incredible experience of being paired with Dan from Tartan Viking Tours. We first contacted a few tour companies and after working with Angelina on suggestions on how to best fit our time schedule we decided to go with Tartan Viking. We were then paired with Dan. Dan was a delight! Dan was also very knowledgeable about history and the perfect sites to see and how to take a great picture! But, beyond that Dan was funny and kind and our group felt comfortable and safe with him. We spent two weeks touring the UK and our group unanimously agreed that this was the #1 experience of our trip. We would absolutely come back to Scotland and do another experience with Tartan Viking Tours.

Calum was our guide for 3 different days of touring. His story telling and the sights were the highlight of our trip. We did the the Rosslyn Chapel & North Berwick Day Tour, had some unexpected road closures but we made the best of it. The private Outlander Tour took us to Doune Castle, such an amazing historic site. Our last trip was Scotland in a Day. It was a long but well worth it. We had a wonderful tour over 4 days with Tartan Viking. Our tour guide Dan was absolutely amazing and we had some great chats, laughs, and saw some amazing places. Including ones we would never have known were there. Dan is a passionate Scotsman with wonderful historical information which we so greatly appreciated and loved. We had the most amazing experience on our 5 day tour with Ross visiting Glencoe, Skye, Inverness and Edinburgh. The Highlands are amazing. We cannot recommend Ross enough! With knowledge about all the history of each location, he catered to everything we wanted to do and needed, and got us to amazing sites without any stress. We will absolutely be back and requesting Ross. And maybe Dan too! ;)
